This game is just so wacky in a lovely way! I liked how each of the monsters turned out to be pretty nice and peaceful, but the little scare jumps still got me. :> The pixel art is beautiful and it all has such a wonderfully creepy atmosphere. The puzzle with the 'thousand-eyed mummy reindeer' (?) was great as well! Thank you for this cute horror game, which I happily recommended along with two other Ludum Dare 41 entries in one of our compilation articles. :) A bit of the gameplay is also featured in the related video. <3 Good luck with the ratings!

Best wishes,
Sebastian

Thank you so much for the playthrough! I really enjoyed it! :D

Can you make a mac version of the game?

Hey! We are looking into that. No ETA yet, but we hope soon. :)

Hi there, I recently played through Woodsy and quite enjoyed it. I was a bit skeptical at first, I was wondering how  you could combine a walkabout style like Animal Crossing with horror but I'm happy to say that it works really well here. Each character has their own unique feel to them, along with a spooky design. I've always been a fan of the pixel art style when it comes to games, and this one is no exception.

There are definitely some tense moments in the game, mostly from having a monster jump out at you, but then immediately start having a conversation with you. It's very strange, but it's even stranger that it works surprisingly well.

This is definitely one of the more interesting games I've played, mostly that the experience isn't quite like anything else so it's a bit tricky to explain, but I like it a lot.

Hope you don't mind but I made a short let's play video of your game for my channel.

Cheers!

I loved your playthrough! Brilliant stuff! Thank you so much for the praise as well. :)

any plans on doing a mac release?

Currently looking into that, actually. No promises yet, but we hope so. :)

This game was seriously fantastic. Like the title says, it really is comedy horror done right which is great because it is often done wrong!

So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the play-through and the kind words! :)

Your welcome! cant wait for any other games you make!

It's always nice to meet your neighbours... Just don't be quick to judge them.

Sorry I got the name wrong.

Haha no worries! Thanks for the play! :D

This looks fascinating. Too bad it's a winx64 application and my old 32bit laptop can't handle. Will just instead watch let's plays of it :)

Oh geez! Sorry I've been so busy this week I haven't gotten around to making more comprehensive builds.
Let me get on that. :)

Just added a 32 bit version! Let me know if that works. :)

Awww. Thanks for that even though it wasn't necessary hehe. Will download that version whenever I'll get a chance :) Thank you!

I LOVE the fancy persona! Thank you for the kind words and the playthrough! :D

The concept is so strange, but alot of fun. Being scared by a monster and then immediately having a conversation with it is quite unnerving. The art is great and the ambiance is very ominous. I didn't quite get the story, but it was still a solid game.

Thank you so much for playing! I think you discovered the most out of all the let's players so far. :) A lot of your reactions were so genuine and funny!

Thanks for making it! it was pretty cool.

Hey, what was the deal with the cloak guy?

It's certainly a very strange statue, isn't it? ;)

This game was actually really well done! I've been super addicted to the pixelated art style in video games for the past few months and that's what originally made me want to pick this one up! The sounds and ambiance were fantastic and I love the fact that there was a happy-go-lucky feel in the back of this game as well. It definitely pulled off a scary, yet happy vibe in my opinion, much like A Nightmare Before Christmas. Not like the movie, itself. More like the feel of it. The only negative things I have to say about this game are that it starts off in 720p, which is fine. I can switch it to windowed mode and record it no problem. The only issue is: it switches back once the game ends. Other than that, it's great! Thanks so much for making this!

Thank you so much for the playthrough and the kind words! It warms our hearts to hear. :)

(I'll have to look into the resolution issue.)

Thank you! It wouldn't have been a big deal if I didn't record everything with Elgato. When screen resolution changes mid-recording, everything goes out of sync. Easy to fix in post-processing though, so no biggie!

Much potential in this style - if maybe made serious :p Was an interesting game in itself.

Thank you so much for giving it a play man!
In response to the seriousness, the theme for this month's Ludum Dare was to mash together "two incompatible genres", so our group went for a mix of horror and an Animal Crossing-esque slice of life. Two genres we felt are at the complete opposite ends of the spectrum.

Yeah xD I saw that. But seeing a game always makes me view it in a 'What if' - *Insert Mature Theme* into it when I see potential :P

I'll admit this now, you are actually on to something with Woodsy. I'd like to see how you take this game and evolve it from here.

That's awesome to hear, man! We really appreciate you giving it a play. :)
